I Knowingly Failed

 I said I would pray..

But I did something else.

I said I would read your Word..

But I watched television instead.

I said I would fast..

But situations arose.

YET though I failed YOU..

You never left my side.

I wanted to go to church..

But sleep kept me bound.

I said I would go tomorrow..

But the rain on my path

grew.

I searched through my closet..

For garments of praise..

But I forgot I was born a worshipper..

Till the end of my days.

I said I would give,

to those in need.

I said I would assist,

in giving to succeed.

But my mind went astray..

And I knowingly failed..

YET the love of Jesus Christ..

Pursued me by and by.
