My Friend Is Not My Friend
I felt the stab, you gave to my back..
Dear friend of mine, my eyes saw not your attack.
You laughed at my jokes, while snares were set..
Like Judas you adorned, the silver you met.
I thought of you with love, I thought of you with care..
On days of great rejoicing, your truth was my fare.
Perfect perfection, I saw in your heart..
And I held to my fortune, to never be apart.
I saw you lost, in a cold hard shell..
While armies of soldiers, declared.. It is well.
Your ray of sunshine, was consumed by gloom..
For your choices in freedom, had no peace in the room.
How beautiful to behold, the gift of your smile..
Once upon a time, as it traveled without guile.
Today you are covered, with pride and with ail..
For you made your bed, without linen, to fail.
As I arm myself, with loins of truth..
I remember a daughter, in her graceful youth.
I seek to understand, the atmosphere shift..
For my friend is not my friend, as your boat goes
adrift.
