Today I Seek Mercy

I heard your voice, calling out my name..

In the cool of the day, as I thought I was okay.

In fashion of leaves, I bowed to the ground..

For my heart dictated, that I could not be found.

With wide open eyes, I saw every toe..

And reality acknowledged, my enemy and my foe.

While gentleness beckoned, to pour on my head..

The darkness of cunning, had already been fed.

Ashamed to behold, the reality of fear..

I cowered in the corner, of weakness and tear.

As love drew closer, with words so soft..

My faults and my flaws, became shadows in the loft.

I thought to run, on the feet of hinds..

To a distant land, without care and blinds.

As I pondered the chains, that was holding me bound..

My heartbeat wrestled, where faith was not found.

Yesterday I carried, the gift of pure gold..

With commands to rejoice and favour untold.

Today I seek mercy, to rise and overcome..

As the dew of the morning, goes back to where its from.
