Dry Your Eyes
Today I kiss this world goodbye..
To go to a place, where I will not cry.
Today all cares and fears inside..
I will leave, with the evening tide.
You will weep, as you watch me sleep..
And your heart will break, as your memories seep.
A rose in hand, you will lay on my chest..
For the day has come, for your hardest test.
Adorned in black, you will sit in gloom..
As the shadows of others, cluster the room.
The words of comfort and courage, they share..
Will not be enough, for the weight you bear.
As the choir sing, you will close your eyes..
And a photograph of beauty, you will remember with cries.
The laughter, love and hands you touched..
Now will be, in your memory crushed.
But do not weep, as you bid farewell..
My time has ended, for show and tell.
The light has come, at the tunnel's end..
And now I am gathered, with my one true friend.
By and by, we may meet someday..
So rise up now and sing and pray.
Dry your eyes and live to know..
That where I am, is not below.
