Without My Mother
I remember the days, when your perfume was gold..
I would inhale your scent, and thank God for your world.
You held my hand, and taught me right from wrong..
Now I stand here today, to sing you a song.
On lonesome days, you would hold me so tight..
My heart would be blessed, because it all felt so right.
The warmth of your touch, and the whisper of your voice..
Were the soothing balm, that made me rejoice.
I took for granted, you would always be here..
For I never gave thought, you would one day disappear.
My fear of being alone, became my plight..
When you closed your eyes, away from my sight.
I wept so much, till tears fell dry..
Upon my knees, I was weakened with why.
The one I loved, and held so dear..
Without my permission, was gone from here.
Black with loss, I yearned for hope..
Your untimely death, I could not cope.
No one taught me, how to live..
Without my mother, and the love she gave.
