When The Wilderness Is Wide
I toiled from childhood, to get to where I am..
Through trials and triumphs, in storm and in calm.
There were days I was weakened, and I fell to the ground..
With groanings and utterings, that did not make a sound.
Kicked down by those, whose hands I once held..
Surrounded by enemies, and swords they all weld.
Words shot like arrows, to break me in two..
While my strength was decayed, like the friends that were few.
No bread was baked, and the well grew dry..
With bone printed garments, I bowed down and cried.
My encouragement came, from the clouds as they hung..
While the life left in me, garnered courage to be sung.
I reflect in the mirror, through time and tide..
And I understand the seasons, when the wilderness is wide.
My testimonies came, because I never gave up..
Now today I can
stand, and share from my cup.
