In All He Lost
There was a man, in the land of Uz..
Perfect and upright, that ever lived or was.
He feared the Lord, and was blessed so great..
For in his house, he was pure in faith.
By and by, he lost his fare..
When Satan came, and took his cheer.
All he loved, were not retained..
For granted authority, was not restrained.
In all he lost, he did not sin..
Though friends they came, and stayed within.
While troubles raged, from dust to dawn..
This humble man, sat poor with scorn.
Foolish words, like thorns and weeds..
Shot like arrows, upon good seeds.
Dressed like beggars, by the gate..
This chosen son, was not bound by hate.
Though time prevailed, and crushed his heart..
Unwavering faith, was mercy's cart.
For goodness came, and raised him up..
With uttered favour, to fill his cup.
