You Can Never Go Back

You can never go back, to the places you've been.

For your eyes to behold, all the things you have seen.

Set in stone, are the trinkets you made..

As the distance you travel, grow old as it fade.

The smiles and the laughter, you shared in the field..

The bread you once

broke, that in prayer brought yield.

The kiss on the bruise, as your heart fluttered scared..

Have now become memories, of long ago fared.

With your heart and your mind, all entangled in glee..

You peer through the window, where dreams were all free.

Though sown in fine linen, are the petals of rose..

The silence of the past, gathers tapestry of woes.

From yesterday's meeting, with birds on the trees..

To highlights of beauty, as honey is to bees.

You hold in your hand, the whisper of a touch..

As you step into the sunshine, where love will give you much.

In bedtime stories, on pages of gold..

Are hand written words, from days of old.

Forever and ever, in hope's own chest..

You carry your treasures, where it will find rest.
