An Old Rag And A Shoe
An old rag said, to a shoe one day..
I can make you shiny, like the sun's own ray.
If you put your trust in me, you will have no regret..
Just give me a chance and you will never need to fret.
I know I am old and wrinkled at the edge..
And I know there are others, who are strong as a sledge.
But if you look beyond, all the creases and the age..
I will give you splendor, more valued than your wage.
The shoe sat and thought, about the words that were said..
And pondered all the reasons, so his choice be not dead.
For the balance on the scale, was between old and new..
And making a decision, should affect more than a few.
The banter of the rag and the shoe, brought much joy..
And soon the sound of laughter, was like getting a new toy.
Though the differences between them, were like fire meeting rain.
The wisdow of the rag, was to the shoe's own gain.
The moral of the story, is to always look beyond.
For what you see today, is not a shallow pond.
What you have in your head, the old already won..
And the treasures to deposit, should be valued as a son.
