God Take The Wheel

You might see me on the street and think I am okay...

And you say to yourself, I'll just go on my way.

But the smile that you see, is the mask that I wear...

To conceal and protect, the darkness that I fear.

You may listen to my voice and hear every word I say.

And marvel at the knowledge, in what you can't repay.

Yet hidden in a cocoon, lies brokenness and pain...

And every step I take, I feel that I am slain.

You look upon my person, with envy in your eyes...

And dream of countless hours, where wishes never dies.

But just around the corner, when I am all alone...

The weight of cares surrounds me and I ache down to my bone.

You iron out my value and presume to light my way...

But know not of the course I'm on, or hear what I don't say.

For

though the miles ahead of me, are darkened with each stride...

I pray that God might take the wheel and forever be my guide.
