A Happy Wife

 I cook, I wash.

I clean, I dust.

But my work, it never ends.

For as the dawn brings each new day.

My back it breaks again.

I pick up toys.

I scrub the floor.

But do I get a word of thanks?

NO!

A frown is all I get.

Sometimes I think of all the time.

I spend slaving after you.

I would be a mite happier.

If a helping hand I get now and then.

I wonder if I go on strike.

Would you do all that I do?

Or would it all just stay right there...

For me to do again?

A little appreciation is all that I ask.

If I'm to stay right here.

For a happy wife, is a loving wife.

And that can go, a long, long way.
