God's Own Tank

I watched you as you toiled today.

And in my heart I heard you say.

Darling, all I do right now.

Is for our future and to you I endow.

You took a breath and wiped the sweat.

From eyes and neck that was so wet.

The sun was hot but you did not.

Return to shade like an empty pot.

Your thirst was much and so you drank.

From water stored in God's own tank.

All the while my heart was filled.

With gratitude as you were willed.

So hug me tight, tonight my love.

And rest your head on me like a turtledove.

As dreams, they touch you as you sleep.

And angels smile as I pray and weep.
